It is basically to say that science has proven or dis-proven nothing throughout the existence of mankind.

@mattxr2i ...subjected to developmental environments which may develope 'character' just like humans. So both humans and animals may only be as corrupt as the ones around them allow them to be, or attempt for them to be treated properly; but humans are judged on a higher standard because of their superior intelligence. Also, animals don't even have the burden of making highly conceptualized moral choices and are neither good or evil by the choices they make. Defense rests.

@mattxr2i I'll finally refer back to my opening argument, the raised animal. I've already described the relationship to human beings. Pitbulls may have aquired a bad rap for being 'aggressive' in the eyes of people who don't know much. These dogs were mistreated by their owners, abused. Look at children who are abused and mistreated. They have a much higher chance of commiting crimes and making bad choices. They then might qualify for your definition of 'corrupted'. Thus animals are...

@mattxr2i Let's also think about the nature of evil. Good and evil lie on a continuum, morally good value on one side and morally unacceptable values on the other. From this, if animals are not capable of evil, they are also not capable of good. So what feelings are they capable of? Who knows, but in defense of humans, your view of making a choice is a burden, and so is our sapience, it leaves the possibility of developing such concepts as good and evil and evaluating our choices based on them.

@mattxr2i I'd argue they are like people in the sense if they are treated/raised well they are 'gentler' or 'kinder' if that is applicable in context to the animal. If abused or treated poorly the animal can becom uncharacteristicly aggressive or dangerous. This ofcourse is not universally applicable, like a Grizzly bear which should be respected and not tampered with at all because it is naturally an aggressive animal, and should be respected. But dogs treated well or not develop accordingly.
