Beer, cigarettes for food stamps plus $1

A new advertisement from a grocery store is causing concern. The promotion basically offers to accept food stamps in exchange for cigarettes and beer, items that are not legal to purchase with food stamps.

lol the government is quick to squash any loophole that the poor uses to get what they want. But if rich men use it, it remains a loop hole for alot longer.

if i owned a grocery store i'd have a similar deal:

i'd massively overprice a certain item that i sell. for example, Brand X pencils: 10 pack for

20$, when they only cost me 1$. then i'd have a 12 pack of Beer Y for 1$ (which cost me say 10$) if they buy the pencils. then i make (20 - 1 - (10 - 1)) = 10$ on the transaction.

bums with ebt cards would line up for such a deal.

Just know that the scam insurance business that the government allows is causing many more people to seek food stamps because they haven't been compensated for their injuries.

In the very least, they should make it be the other way around: trade in cigarettes/beer for food stamps.

I live inBC, Canada and worked at a grocery store here and grocery stores can't sell alcohol, the only beer we sold was .5% alcahol beer. I'm kind of glad because then we don't get weirdos and damn drunks coming in for booze

@rassd71 where i live it is the pill heads that abuse the system they will be able to circumvent that by providing the doctors prescription at the time of drug testing i'd say less than 5% would actually fail from things like cocaine, heroin(circumvented with a morphine prescription) and marijuana. in the end it will cost more to drug test every month. I'd say drug test only when applying ..btw some sell their food stamps 1/2 price for cash and we can't do shit about it.

This is a legal abuse of the system. And every tax payer is paying for it. And I would also venture to bet that his prices on the required ground meats are NOT that good of a deal, so the ONLY ones really taking advantage of this offer would be those who are scamming food stamps!

I think we should require anyone on food stamps to be clean & sober & drug test. If you can afford booze, cigarettes & drugs, you don't need my help to eat!
