this is definitely locking, don't know what some of you are talking about. yes, it has a lot of other influences - I can see a lot of house inspired steps, but categorizing it as locking isn't wrong by any stretch of the word.

just because it doesn't have funk music doesn't mean it ain't locking. sheesh.

at 1:34 to 1:37 is probably the only thing close to locking but they look so unenthusiastic doing it that it looks horribly sloppy.

You may be right, since I didn't actually see them do any actual "locks" in that whole routine, but the style still undeniably looks like locking, and they definitely do a lot of moves associated with locking, even if they didn't actually do a proper lock, haha. Plus it does say soul-lock which is probably a little different.

locking is about fast movements and then all of a sudden coming to a stop. or locking. Breaking came from the word break dancing where people would dance to a looped breakbeat. the break beat came from a drum break in a song that was continuosly looped.
