At a press conference on October 10, 2007, Third Way released a paper that for the first time charts a way for progressives and Evangelicals to bridge the divide on some of the most polarizing cultural issues of the day (www.third-way.com). In seeking common ground on matters ranging from abortion to gay and lesbian issues to religion in the public square, the paper, titled "Come Let Us Reason Together: A Fresh Look at Shared Cultural Values between Evangelicals and Progressives," offers what its authors and supporters are calling "the beginning of the end of the culture wars."

The Washington press conference, co-hosted by Faith in Public Life, brought together several national progressive and Evangelical leaders, including Dr. Joel C. Hunter, senior pastor of Northland, A Church Distributed, a congregation of 12,000 that worships throughout Central Florida and online via Webstream Worship at www.northlandchurch.net.

  • On the same sex marriage issue. I support Ron Paul's/libertarian position. Get the government out of licensing marriage and just enforce private relationship contracts. Marriage should be returned to the churches and private sector.

  • Prolifers and prochoicers tend to be one dimensional. Prolifers focus entirely on the unborn child, and prochoicers entirely on the woman. We need a balance. I'm a moderate prolifer that believes we need to treat abortion more as a social health problem. Seek to reduce abortions and encourage life. Balance the child's life with the mother's life, physical and mental health. promote targeted regulations (informed consent, waiting period), family planning, adoption, poverty reduction.

  • @leeroynaggins I never said he used evolution.Read my post again. Not sure what you mean God put those there to fool science ??? The fossil are from real animals.

The foolfs are the one who reject God as creator.

  • @danephillips

    Agree!

    God doesn't use evolution.

But God did put all those fossils under the ground to fool scientists and to test our faith.

  • Dr Joel hunter is a complete fool. First if you say God use evolution to create the world then you reject Jesus .You call Jesus as a Liar .Jesus said He came to do what Adam could not.If you say evoltuion then you reject Jesus.

Jesus said through Adam sin came into the world, death came into the world eve was the mother of all Humans .Joel even say Jesus rsing from the day is just a story ???? He a Fool and not follow the truth of scripture!

  • Hegalian dialectic

  • Third way is a left wing, socialist organization. I left Northland church because not long after he joined this organization.

  • Thanks, I think Joel Hunter is going to be one of those people who future generations look back on and see him as ahead of his time

  • thanks for this.

I have been growing in respect for this man over the last few months.

  • According to the Bible, the sinner sins because they love themself & their sin. They pursue sin. The stripper didn't stimulate men by erotic dancing & fornicate & murder 5 of her babies because someone else made her do it. She stripped & had sex with men who weren't her husband & murdered because she wanted to. According to God's Word, we are not a sinner because we sin, we sin because we are a sinner. Original sin is what made the stripper kill 5 of her babies.
