  • Tail heavy? What ever, looks like you stalled it. The thing is, if the airplane was more nose heavy it would had stalled sooner but it may had given you more warning as you would have to pull back on the stick to maintain altitude... but it should had been obvious anyway you were going SLOW AS CRAP for a War Bird

  • @aratidwell You are correct, way too slow. Now I know! Look at my other video, Rare Bear Remaiden..it flies much better after I added about 8 ounces of lead to the nose.

  • Ouch , that was painfull to even watch , i have no idea how arse clenching ti would have been at the controls =P

  • @SleepEat3D Stated exactly as it felt!

  • So angry...I feel bad for people that know you

  • Tipstall, too much elevator and way too slow. You can tell it was too slow by the way the tail slid sideways at around 5:05.

  • @aratidwell do not agree with the nose heave sooner stall theory. a wing stall is based on wing loading and angle of attack. tail heavy aircraft can give you a more aggressive stall and is easier to enter a deep stall or maybe an unrecoverable stall. also a tail heave aircraft will make it easier for a PIO.

  • Man I hate to see that sorry for your crash been there done that. However I couldnt disagree more, that plane may have been on the SLIGHTLY tail heavey but your approuch was far to slow on such a heavy plane. That was a tip stall and over correction in panic mode. Which caused another tip stall that was impos. to recover. If it had been tail heavy you wouldnt have stayed in the air that long and that very nice roll would have triggered the stall. Hope it flies great now love to see more vids.

  • I know this is years late....when you have a tail heavy plane the first thing you need to do is land it. Give it as much down trim as possible. Then when you come in to land do not land like you would a normal balanced plane, come in at a High angle of attach. Meaning noise point more towards the ground than normal. I have flown a few tail heavy planes and landed them like they were balanced properly. Some being my GeeBee, Staggerwing, and a P-47. Check out some of my videos.

  • Nice plane! Sorry to see your crash - happens to the rest of us. Hope you got it back up in the air.

  • @corebare Apology Greatly Accepted, and don't worry. everybody has their moments :)

  • @HoskosvanZA - Hey, sorry. I guess I had a really bad day the day I wrote that. In fact, right now, I'm wondering why I wrote it at all. I think maybe I was tired of trying to see race videos of Rare Bear and not finding them. But still, I shouldn't put down your hobby. - So anyway, my apologies.
