Seriously c'mon people. I learned my first linear groove on my own without anyone's advice/help/suggestion/book; only learned it was called "Linear Groove" later on.
Who gives a fuck who's the first to invent what, who's copying who. It's not impossible for a new drummer to "invent" something that's been around for a while. That is the magic of music.
Dimsunk is a really good drummer. My only question is, why is his left hand moving from the elbow? Some sort of ghost snare effect or bad habit?

@thelinedrummer You again??? Bro, this is the 4th YT teacher that I've seen you berating (not including myself)...seriously, let's play some drums and stop the trolling. dimsunk is a BEAST...and I, for one, appreciate each and every lesson he takes the time to produce for us. Keep it up Dimsunk!!!

I read you studied with Jon Hazilla in Boston, I studied with him for 2 years myself. You're a great drummer with tons of heart and great technique, keep it up!

Cmon man, stop trying to be like Mike Johnston. He covers all this stuff, and you're just copying him.

@thelinedrummer I think Mike Johnston is an amazing drummer and Teacher and I respect him greatly. The first time I learnt the lick was about 20 years ago from a local drummer here in Montreal. Then I heard Vinnie and Adam Deitch using it alot. It's been in my repertoire of fills for a long time so just wanted to share it with everyone.
If I had heard it from Mike first I would have copied it .A great way to learn is to copy other great drummers and then make it your own. all the best
