Is that Cliff's bass? We could just be looking at his bass and not even know it. Woah

No that's Rob's bass. Playing this song was not even planned.

As you can see in the video, Lars did try to play the rest but Rob chose to finish it there. This was an impromptu jam, not a planned song play.

But again, he had not planned on playing this song. It was not on the setlist. They were actually preparing to play No Leaf Clover with Apocalyptica but due to the delay in setting up the cellos Rob started doodling and when James yelled "Bass solo, take one!" he just started playing it. Rob has always been very reverential towards Cliff..I believe that if this was planned, he would surely be playing a Rick.

Here's the deal, kids. Rob is a great, world class muscian. Love him, good guy...a fucking class act. Cliff, on the other hand, had ideas and honed his skills himself. In no way was he on par musically with the likes of Rob. Cliff was from the heart, Rob is from years of school.

Cliff Burton played an Aria Pro II, which was until recently discontinued. I want one.

To be fair, his Rick was heavily modified pickup wise so it wouldn't make any difference to the sound unless he was to use the same bass and rig.
