Can You Still Get Betamax In The US? I Know They Went From The UK Long Ago But Back In '92 When I Was A Kid I Had A Sony Betamax Video Player For A While And Even Back Then I Could Tell That No VHS Could Match It's Picture Quality. It's Interesting To See So Many Video's On Here About Old Electronic Technology, I Also Notice That Most Of Them Are From The US, Why Can't Us Brits Still Be Nostalgic For The Great Old Machines That Are Better Than The New One's?

UPDATE: It's (mostly) fixed!!

The STK5441 Voltage Regulator IC was the indeed the culprit. Unfortunately, I had busted the FL cassette loading mechanism a few years back, so until I find a new FL cassette assy, I have to manually load the cassette in. The VCR can still thread the tape on its own, and all other functions work now except for eject, which is intermittent (due to the busted fl cassette assy)

I also have an SL-HF600, but mine's broken :( There's an IC in the power supply which I think is faulty, which is why the tuner and the entire VCR mechanism are dead. (The unit still powers up fine)

Nice Beta. I have the SL-HF600 which is just like this except with a direct access tuning keypad on the right.
