From the motion picture Sun Valley Serenade.

Jerry Gray and Bill Finegan collaborated on this arrangement of Gordon and Warren's "I Know Why." It's a pretty song and quintessential Glenn Miller, with its trademarked Miller reed voicings stating the melody in the first chorus. Tex Beneke takes the short tenor saxophone spot, and the vocalists include the Modernaires, John Payne after Miller's muted trombone, and Pat Friday.

  • i am 21, a mere welp compared to most of this audience but i still however thoroughly enjoy this music on an old 7". i wish all the clowns at modern day radio stations would realise that this kind of talent should get more air time than the head ache inducing rubbish they play nowadays.

  • I've always thought this song epitomized the 40's and could almost transport one back to those times. Despite the unbelievable suffering people went through and unimanginable fear, wonderful and enduring music was created that has been able to transcend the changing decades that followed. No music today done by freak personalities or hateful ractists can compare with music like this, when people were truly talented and not the weirdo du jour.

  • Great clip but wrong AR (aspect ratio) Should be 1:37:1, that's why it looks stretched.

  • Hi Mick -
