Hello everyone and welcome back to Clevver Games, I'm Andrea Rene here with the latest news on Battlefield 3. The first person shooter has celebrated selling over 5 million copies in their first week of release, but already some players are demanding a refund!
.
In Germany, gamers are returning their PC copies of Battlefield 3 concerned over privacy issues with Electronic Art's PC client Origin. It appears that the service is accessing external programs and data synced from mobile phones.
.
Some publications in Germany even think the that license agreement could violate German laws. Items in the license agreement allow EA to access other EA products without notifying hte user and allows for unnamed partners to gather, use, store, and transmit technical and related information for marketing purposes.
.
Clearly online privacy is a major issue to gamers considering the recent fiasco with Sony, so in order to keep customers happy many retailers are giving full game refund, even to people who have already redeemed their PC code. EA Germany has since updated Origin's terms of service in response to the outrage and issued a statement.
.
Saying, "We have updated the End User License Agreement of Origin...Origin is not spyware. Neither do we use nor install spyware on the PCs of users. We do not have access to information such as picture, documents, or personal date, which have nothing to do with the execution of the Origin program."
.
EA also stated their privacy policies are standard within the games industry. But I guess the damage has been done in Germany. What about you guys? Any problems with your PC Battlefield copies? Did you read the license agreement? Are you worried about EA snooping around your computer? Let me know in a comment below. I'll bring you all the latest Battlefield news right here on Clevver Games so make sure to subscribe to not miss any updates. Thanks for watching, I'm Andrea Rene and I'll see you next time.

  • IF EA looked through my computer all the would find is porn :(

  • Who reads license agreements these days?

    They're so friggin long.

Read 5 sentences and you'll be like:

"F*ck this I just wanna play the damn game"

Remember back in the day where there wasn't DRM and you didn't need some sort of account to play in Multiplayer?

    Man... Those were the days...

  • Beta worked for me, the full version didn't, can't get a refund, fuck EA.

  • Steam is the Daddy compared to Origin and their services along with windows spying doesn't help.Pity I have to miss out on a cool game being a battlefield 2 fan. I'll pick this up in the bargain basement to run on a partitioned OS if a decent PCI express 3.0 motherboard ever turns up. Why terms of service agreements have to be anymore than have have a good time, inform us of any glitches, don't bully, cheat, piss about with the coding and keep the hard work of the developers in mind is beyond me

  • @darksly22 sooooooo ture

  • @loner09rus ok ty -_-

it would be cool if they had that game mode with vehicles too

  • @M0noandkendo It's from alpha version of the game, I believe. It looks like Rush gamemode on Operation Metro, but there's no vehicles on that map in the final release of the game.

  • 0:46 whats the name of that game mode??

  • @TurkishSoulBoy dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you. IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION,

  • I read the EULA here we go: 2. Consent to Collection and Use of Data. You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates,
