These are Paradigm Studio Monitors drivin by a Bryston 4B NRB, and a Reference Servo 15 VA subwoofer, this is clean bass, not pushed all the way to the limits..hitting 120+ db peaks at 1 m safely. My camera doesn't pick up the bass very well..

  • ParadigmShifty @5litremania You should probably listen to the speakers before making such an expensive purchase.. I'm quite sure that the S8s will eclipse the old Studios in every regard, including bass. Not only will they reach lower and go louder, the bass will be tighter and more refined. Having four 7" woofers reinforcing the bottom end instead of two 8" woofers is definitely an advantage.

  • i had a pair of studios in black they are by far the best speakers that paradigm ever made till this day

  • @rednecknber

I will find out soon enough for myself how they stack up to todays offerings by Paradigm as I have a pair of Signature S8 v3's on order... for some reason I do not believe that the new S8's will have the same bass capabilities as my "old" Studio Monitors do... but I hope that the S8's midrange and treble beat the Studio Monitors by a very large margin.

  • The woofers are bottoming out on the lowest frequencies. Now thats how you test a woofer.

  • I will never part with my SMs... They are simply awesome even at 22 yrs... (purchased in January 1990)

  • who did you connect the monitor speakers to the subwoofer

  • @5litremania There is no hoping to do, the Signature Be dome tweeters are clearly superior to any alu dome tweeter Paradigm ever made. The S8 is two quality levels up from the Studio Monitors. Still not a Dynaudio Contour S5.4 but very good.

The Servo 15 is a classic Paradigm product. First rate SQ but limited output(for a 15" of today).

  • what is the name of this song

  • paradigm studios where and are the best speakers they ever built even today i had a pair but where detroyed in a fire

  • @5litremania The S8s are definitely an incredible speaker. I wish I could afford them but at the moment it's a bit outside of my price range. I'm going to order a 5.1 Studio system in the next few weeks, so I'm really excited to get those! I'm going to go with the 100s, 690, 590s, and the Sub 15. It will be an epic system when it's all set up and properly calibrated! :)

  • @ParadigmShifty I listened extensively to the S8's in the store, but obviously not in the same room as my Studio Monitors are. They sounded fantastic, the midrange and treble are especially sweet. The beryllium tweeter conveys exceptional detail, but at the same time is very smooth. Anyways it is going to be fun to compare the "old" with the "new" and I am sure the S8's are going to trounce the old Studio Monitors in every regard! I should have my new S8's next week, I can't wait!
