Flying While Muslim: Racial Profiling (Raed Jarrar Vignette)

August 12, 2006 was unlike any other for Raed Jarrar, an Iraqi architect and blogger who checked in to a JetBlue flight to California from New York. Before boarding a flight at JFK Airport, security officials was forced to remove the T-shirt that he was wearing bearing the slogan "We will not be silent" written in Arabic and English.

@BabyBang17datruth All religions are ideologies. Didn't you know that? And just because 1.2 billion people adhere to it, doesn't make it right! Everyone 600 years ago 'knew' that the Earth was flat, and that the sun revolved around the Earth. 60 years ago everyone 'knew' it was impossible to travel faster than sound. All religions, Islam included, are just ideologies that can just as easily be abused for personal gain as communism. Just take a look at Iran, or Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan.

It was Thomas Jefferson who first recognized Islam as a religion protected by the Constitution and used texts for the Quran to write the Declaration of Independence. And that same Quran was used to during the inauguration of the first Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison. And also, if Islam is a twisted ideology, why is it the fastest growing religion in the world?
