The Gilman Street exit off Interstate 80 is one of the Bay Area's most confusing and dangerous intersections. It's just gotten worse since the meltdown of the Macarthur Maze on April 29, as many more drivers use the exit as turnaround. Chronicle reporter Jim Herron Zamora talks to Jim Rosenau, a Berkeley resident who works nearby. Rosenau says the intersection where his truck was rear-ended is "total anarchy." There have been more than 76 auto collisions and 41 injuries there from 2000 to 2005.

  • What is your folk's stance on the racist chronwatch website?

  • If you're referring to chronwatch-dot-com, that site is not affiliated in any way with the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper.

  • It is not. It was set up because the San Francisco Chronicle wasn't racist enough. Not that it is.

  • I really hope you're kidding.

  • I usually avoid this intersection if I can. My solution to driving this crazy intersection? DRIVE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, then people generally get out of your way

  • I hate that intersection with a passion. I hope this video might help to get something done.
