Damn it - when I was in DC last October for the Jon Stewart rally, we had time to go to one museum on the last day. We chose the Museum of American History over the Natural History Museum.

Next time I go to DC this place is high on the list of priorities.

Ah, no need to mourn for the extinct animals, we still have plenty of awesome ones we are lucky to see today :) Lions, elephants, rhinos, horses, whales... Ah yeah the blue whale. Largest creature that EVER lived. So we're not missing out on anything that's larger than it.

And no need to lament the technology you won't live to see, cause we've got plenty of awesome stuff right now.

The smaller critter is a glyptodont, which is related to the armadillos still extant. It's primarily our ancestors who are responsible for them being extinct. Humans pretty much pushed all the megafauna outside of Africa into extinction. We didn't wipe out the stuff in Africa mostly because it had time to adapt as we evolved into ore effective predators.

Anyhow Greatbig, your videos are an interesting video-journal of a guy on an adventure (and you have a talent for editing; your stories are clear and informative -and occasionally funny [ I took the liberty to publish your Wall Street reports on Facebook; they proved proved to be inspirational ]).

@GreatBigBore I meant that soem of these vids have bit a tad on the boring side (I did appreciate several of the Occupy wall street ones though)
