If the public option is dropped, then Healthcare reform is a sham. There is NO WAY to contain costs without it. Without it, reform is the Insurance Company Profit Assurance Act.

Is western Europe socialist or communist? Well, we all have a National Health Care Service which provides health care to everyone who needs it. Noone here can understand how it is possible that USA, a country that has money to go to the moon doesn't have money to treat poor people with terrible diseases like cancer. 45 million without health care in the US??? Many people I know simply don't believe it. What? In the US??? Unbelievable!!!

Do you really know what you're getting? Do you know the Standard Benefits package? Of course not. You can't. This is why (from the Act):
"(b) ADOPTION OF STANDARDS.—
1) INITIAL STANDARDS.—Not later than 18
months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall, through the rulemaking process consistent with subsection (a), adopt an initial set of benefit standards."
See. You have no idea what you're buying. Read. It's only 1018 pages long.

One of the first thing the US needs to do is to stop calling it "socialised medicine" since it does seem to be a ploy to stigmatise the idea by making it sound like communism. It's NATIONALISED medicine! You love your military so much, and that's a nationalised service.
Also what most Americans don't seem to think about, is that, like Britain, they can still keep some privatised hospitals for people that can't bear the idea of waiting in line with us normal people.
