@TypesALot It was the title song of his TV series, and got to #5 on the Billboard chart (four months before "Different Worlds", the theme song of "Angie" got to #18).
Even without the song, we still would have heard of David Naughton. And wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?

This was also the album to introduce me to New Wave. I was 7 in 1979 and Pop Muzik was the very first New Wave song I ever heard. It is still my favorite genre of music from the entire decade of the 80's.

OMG My older sister bought this at Thrifty's in L.A. where there used to be a lot of K-Tel albums. I remember me and my two younger sisters would give this record a spin quite often, dancing to M's Pop Muzik, the last track on the album. It is still in my possesion. This is the first time I've ever seen the commercial for it. Thanks for sharing a childhood memory of mine.

I have this album. I was only a baby then so I never got to see the commercials until the magic of YouTube.

I got this for Christmas in 79... And I still have it..

I had one of these back in '79 with some of the same songs, but I think it was by Ronco. It had "Makin' It" and "Heaven on the 7th Floor" and "Gold" by John Stewart. Great stuff when you were 12

I grew up with this album. Mom got it back in 1979 when were were kids and wore Sad Eyes out. I thought about getting another copy on ebay. We also had several other K-Tel and Ronco Lp's. To get all your favorites on one album was a rare treat then.

I had this album, and many other K-Tel albums as well. I still have them, they are stored in the garage
My sister got this for Christmas in '79.

Before ipod playlists, before mixtapes, there was K-Tel.
As a small child, I used to love these compilations very much.
