Coat hanger wire shouldnt be used for bird toys. Its sharp ends have punctured their beaks.

Is hemp rope safe?
Superhappyfuntimefun 3 years ago
As far as I know, hemp is safe. I have used it to make a few toys with no ill effects. However, I recommend cotton twine or jute, which closely resembles hemp, but is a bit stiffer and more wiry.
