See how to harvest a rare-earth magnet from your old (or dead) hard drive. All is not lost after all!

  • What a useless video, the intro and pointless "visuals" take up 80% of the video. The actual useful content could easily be summarized in a single sentence.

Step 1. Unscrew the screws and remove magnet. Done.

  • @NICKSTER117 Yeah I got pinched,. it hurt but no blister. So I learned to be careful. Also, if they get stuck together, it's probably too hard to seperate. you can try. The magnetic force can go through my fingers so you don't want to stick these on your face.

  • I bet that you got quite a laugh out of that one.

  • Normally the gap between the magnet and the frame is so small you can't get the knife in there. And beating them off with a hammer breaks most of them.

  • That's lazy. They didn't take the magnet off the metal frame it's glued to.

That's what I want to know how to do. other then prying or bending it off.

  • i was unfortunate enough to get my thumb caught on the little metal bit sticking out of the other end of the actuator and it dug like half a cm into my finger

  • same

  • 3.5 hard drives = T-8

    2.5 hard drives = T-6
