This game was also ported to the Headstart LX, an 8088 IBM compatible PC, with VGA graphics, and a crap-load of games on an early CD-Rom (the discs had to be placed in a tray that mechanically resembled a large 3.5" floppy). The hardest part of the gameplay, was gaining control of your Wizball. Once that was done, the hardest part was avoiding idleness, because if nothing was going on, then a spaceship resembling a red duck would rush out in a spiral path (difficult to avoid the collision).
It's a disgrace! This version proofs that pc originally wasn't designed to develop games in the first place. I had a good laugh when I first discovered this because I own a C=64 with the original Wizaball tape. Even the new Wizball remake isn't as cool as the original Sensible Software-version for the Commodore 64.
man, I remember this game. Except my brother (who was 4 yrs older than me) had this computer that only had orange and black colours.
I tell you...we've all come a long way since these 'graphics'. But it's really good to see and appreciate the old technology. As bad and crappy as it was.
Incidentally, the title screen on a Tandy w/ the PC port actually had music, which was very different from the C64 version. For some reason, I can't find a video of that version's music on YT, but that's probably more to do w/ the fact that most ppl don't remember the Tandy music or ever even played that version...
Yet another crappy dos port of one of my childhood classics, seriously this is a disrace to the C64/Atari st/ Amiga classic. but then again for the most part PC was not the best system for gaming in the early 80's.
