This is the way to learn. Not with a laptop. Plain and simple explanation how things work. Today's high tech media has made young people all lazy and not knowing how to use their brain to figure things out.

@Steve197201 Exactly. We did experiments like this in school all the time.
I love this. "Go ahead and touch that flame. See how hot it is?!" This is how we learn, not with shields, helmets and books.

@Steve197201 well, your generation is the one that has the children who are watching television now. the logical explanation is that people found out that bad things happen, such as, if you are unlucky or do something stupid, the fire goes through the nozzle and ignites the gases above the gasoline and...BOOMPH.

They need to put all of these old shows on DVD, along with Mr Wizard's world! I would buy every one so that my kids could have a better appreciation for science!

I loved Mr. Wizard, growing up in the 80s! Unfortunately, in our politically correct culture today, a show like this would never be tolerated. Can you imagine the howls of protest people would make when they see kids spraying gasoline into an open flame? Or the explosion that was made when the cap blew off? It's sad what's happened to our country. This is why kids today are so weak and stupid.

It's amazing that "fast paced" and "smarter" TV for kids today consists of loud music, fighting, graphics...this show would be "too dumb" and "too slow" for today's kids. But it teaches science theories that most kids today don't understand.
