deadliest warrior is totally bogus in the way they pit each warrior against each other....but great fun..
-
@Intranetusa like youll see in my other comments, they hired some hack job machinist to make all of the "authentic weapons" that they test...
-
@Intranetusa I'm not even going to touch that with a 100 foot pole they make most of the weapons in a machine shop at the studio, they arent really authentic at all as u can see, they totally bastardized a lot of stuff, and like i said, just the terrible actors they hire as well, but besides all of that deadliest warrior tv show crap, i believe Rome's soldiers at its peak could defeat the Rajput, a personal opinion of course, not meant to offend anyone

The all time dumbest thing I've ever seen on Deadliest Warrior was the Sun Tzu vs Vlad episode. Besides the 2000 year difference, they gave Sun Tzu a fictional weapon that they called the claw (absolutely retarded). The rest of the weapons for that episode were completely inaccurate too.

The Rajput was screwed over too. They gave the Rajput retarded impractical weapons that were used for duals, not battlefield combat. The Rajput should've been given historically accurate weapons such as the Indian longbow and spear.

Lorica segmentata was not used as much as chainmail, and was only used between the 1st and 3rd centuries. They should have used chainmail, but it should have been riveted.

Man, rivetted mail is awesome! No damage whatsoever from an axe blow?!

@Halofreakanoid Gambeson was worn under stop bludgeoning damage and to help stop tapered points as well as it would help stop edges very effectively with out covering due to being stuffed with horse hair and several layers of linen and some times a covering of brushed leather as well. Yes good Bludgeoning damage will still kill though chain and gambeson. That is why axes and clubs were still very popular and swords remained heavy in the Chain era until plate the became tapered for joints/niches.
a rapier might pierce chainmail because of the thin tip to slide between the rings and if it was stiff enough to push through and open the rings just saying

@hellwolf882 It will slip through more because of taper but will not break ring normally if historical chain because rings were solid and riveted shut every other row alternating.

This is Thrand!!!
The Scandinavians still have Glima a form of wrestling similar to Judo now days. They describe fighting like pankration as well just we have no art form left of it. The Renaissance martial arts manuals show moments and techniques that look very much like the Asian martial arts. They have been lost in many cultures but every one that hard war and fighting had martial arts systems in every culture all over the world. The word Martial arts is not Asian.
