Well I dont like this guy very much but he says something that it is very truth, if you are talking about a real republic you can not impose any values or beliefs to others. That's a wise position. Free to choose.

do you kind of see the correlation between brutal dictators (Stalin and Nicolae Ceauşescu) and banning abortion?

I mean if anything it would limit freedom and lead to thousands of dirty illegal abortions.
