  • Good advocate for a good cause.

  • @eksekseksg3 Stephen Fry has always been a fan of all software and hardware types and is a big supporter of Apple even criticising it when necessary whether open source or proprietory. Besides, how do you know it's now running linux? ;)

  • Those that are saying in the comments that Apple is the furtherest thing from Free software and he's supporting closed source.... While this is true, the OS-X kernel is actually based on FreeBSD Unix. So what Apple basically do is take free software, modify it, re-brand (ie. make it trendy), and charge you for it LOL

  • Stephen Fry is a fuckin LEGEND!!!!

  • So there is now a video of Fry praising free software, Apple soft- and hardware and the Windows 7 Phone… >_>

  • @Basaltq Is it so obvious? Not to me. Perhaps Fry felt compelled [or just preferred] to augment his political stance on the ownership of information with some basic history, to humanize the example he brings up, put a 'face' on it, as it were. I don't know if everyone can handle 5 mins of an ethics talk by Fry in this respective field, and I think he would prefer to have his words carry; maybe making some compromises along the way.

  • @Elevationary On some Linux distributions, they have Blacklisted software that was written by outside sources, most of which because of operating system conflicts between one Linux ditribution to another, and becasue some have too many bugs, but there are some software that does get improved over time,so i dont know why they keep blocking these outside sources.

  • I love linux and GNU,first of all on my platform,if i log onto a website or anything, and that website trys to create a pop up in my system or try to install something,it will tell me where in the memory, stack, registry and filename,ip address, where it is being modified, and it will tell me where it is coming from, but its not a firewall,or spyware program, its system Locker from warez, which is not copyrighted or published, only shared by the hacker domain,it is not public domain.

  • WISH oh how I wish the fire alarm had gone off at the end...

  • @clanplanetserversltd Because it would actually be running GNU/Linux.

Also, installing any new OS on a Mac is a fucking headache.

  • @duffydack He's reading his notes off of it.

  • Very promising until 1:43 when it became obvious someone from GNU had just written what he has to say. Now this feels so indecent and focuses on unimportant trivia. If I want to know about the heroic deeds of Richard Stallman, I can just visit gnu.org. I'd have much rather heard what Stephen Fry has to say about free software in his own words. Still even with its flaws it's very delightful video.
