@padobah Save percentage and goals against average can be inflated and deflated by the quality of shots a goalie faces. A strong defensive team can keep shots to the outside, and Thomas will face far less scoring chances while facing the same number of shots an average team would let up. Also, when teams are getting kept to the outside like this, they often try to throw many more shots than they would usually at the goalie, once they start getting desperate to get rebounds and bounces. Dumbfuck.

@padobah Tim Thomas looks much better than he is because his team plays a trap style. Just like Price had a great year when MTL started playing trap hockey. Not saying they're not good, but they're both overrated. The best goalie is arguably Ryan Miller.

@TheCodyLamont Alright, I can agree with most of what you're saying but it goes year to year doesn't it? Hockey is constantly evolving and there's practically rule changes each season. I could say that since boarding has become much stricter in 2011-2012 that the Boston, who won the cup last season, has zero cups in the modern era. Could be true, but under the rules of last season, they were the best team. Under 24/101 seasons with each season's respective rules, Montreal was the best.

@hydr5 I mean the game has changed a lot since the last time Montreal won a Stanley Cup. There's obstruction hooking two line passes practically no more stand-up goalies and most importantly free agency has become more important which is something Montreal has failed to effectively use. Also there's at most 3-5 players still playing in NHL that were playing the last time they won the Stanley Cup. So ya that's certainly not the modern era for the NHL.

Of course that was stupid to pick on him at this moment but Montreal Canadians are a disgrace to their name. Entering playoff on the last game for the last 3-4 years (forget the lucky year they finished first...)
