Al Qaeda made the stupid mistake of declaring Iraq the central front in the war against us and got snuffed. They have a Constitution, the means to get to stability. After decades of living under a genocidal maniac, and living decades before under other despots, these people are not exactly Madison and Jefferson. The stated aim of the surge was to defeat the enemy. Mission accomplished. Its you against the world on this one. Get a grip Mr Ambassador. Boneheads can be republicans too...

Actually, Bush signed an agreement with the Iraqis to withdraw our troops in Aug. 2010. It was always subject to change under Bush, just as it still is now under Obama. But Obama managed to take credit for it in his pathetic speech last night. He also took credit for the "surge" of 2007, which turned the course of the war around. Yes, the same surge that he fought so hard to try to kill.

Obama thinks we're stupid. He's only right in the case of his supporters.

Apparently you've never heard of the US - Iraq Status of Forces agreement, the agreement that said "U.S. combat forces would withdraw from Iraqi cities by June 30, 2009, and all U.S. forces will be completely out of Iraq by December 31, 2011". Exactly what happened. Maybe you should know what you're talking about before forming an opinion.
