I like the touch of Grand Funk... another group I couldn't place.

Very nice! I saw your vid listed beside another version I was watching, Nick Stubblefield (worth watching for a jazz version, and he's pro quality). I've gotten interested in Hammonds, especially the B3. Really great sounds outa that thing. Keep up the great work. Now I'm checking out your other vids.

Awesome performance !!! Congrats !!! Keep on posting such great quality !

that was fun. I would love to hear your left hand do some of the original Zombie bass riff, it kind of completes the song.

Hi there, I'm loving your sound. I am in an 8 piece soul band and my organ sounds suck...lol. I'm just looking at buying a VK8M and I hope that I might be able to get a sound close to what you have here and in 'Gimme Some Lovin'. The next hurdle is being able to play like you too. I'm a very good pianist but organ is a totally different demon to me.I just wanted to show my appreciation for what you have achieved and wish you all the best. Thank you for sharing :) Tez

@tezool Thanks. Yes, piano and organ need a different touch and technique. I have owned and played many Hammond organs and clones, and the quality of the instrument is naturally a big part of the sound, but so too are the quality and setup of the amplifier/speaker, and the way not only the notes but also the drawbars, overdrive and Leslie are "played" to achieve a range of sounds and effects.

@ozmusicman88 I guess its a learning curve (vertical line in my case lol). I started out with classical and was really only introduced to soul and (proper) organ about a year ago. So I'm still identifying what makes a good sound. I love the depth and raw drive in the sound you have 'modelled'. Its ballsy and gutsy and thats what my sounds are definitely missing.Have you used the VK8 or VK8m before? If so what are your thoughts?Am I wasting my time?Cheers

@tezool I haven't played a VK8 extensively, but In the early 1970s, I became acquainted with Roland founder Ikutaro Kakehashi through my family's music store. We shared an appreciation for the Hammond organ sound, and I was able to obtain one of the first Roland organs, a VK9, and I can testify to their sound and quality. If you keep listening and experimenting, you will soon pick it up.

Great playing! Love the performance, nice job. Just a quick question, though... This is XK-3c keyboard with the XLK-3 lower manual, right? This is what they call the "XK Pro system", right? I can see you have a slow/fast controller for the rotation speed (about 1:11), does it come with the XK-3c or...? Thanks

@MrBluesmanJunior Thanks. Yes, this is the XK3c (upper) + XLK3 (lower) + XPK200 (pedals), also known as the XK Pro System or XK33. I also have the CU1 Leslie switch and EXP100F expression pedal, which are additional options.
