I am getting a hakama soon and I was wondering how the heck do you tie a hakama (good vid).

Very helpful indeed! Probably the most quick and easy i have watched (and i watched them all!!! ).
Works for me just fine and the Hakama stays in place throughout the lesson.

srry but that was more showing off than helpful. Would you show someone any aikido technique in fast forward? lol. needed to be way slower, and zoom in on certain knots, and maybe even some verbal explaniation.

There are many ways that are correct according to your art...the tie in front is importsant too the cross tie you made is used for funerals and more important cerimonies..not practice....... a simple not is enough. Senoir Member of diatoryu Takumakai Osaka Hombu..sorry for bad englash.

@jellybeanguitarist I was thinking that also. I always thought these were the pants, not something you were over them. I never noticed the side slots, so I guess unless we want to show off bare ass, some PJs would be recommended :)

Either its traditional or not, i think there's nothing wrong if you tie your hakama differently as long as your comfortable from it and it won't hinder your practice. For me it's okay.
What important is your determination to practice.
@zolleymokus: Could you tell me the width of your belt is it 4cm or 7cm? I kinda like the looks of your belt, right now i'm planning to buy my OBI in tozandoshop but i was wondering what to buy.
