From space, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter takes a closer look at four possible landing sites for NASA's next Mars rover -- Curiosity -- scheduled to launch in the fall of 2011 and land on Mars in mid 2012. The mission is scheduled to last until 2014, but the onboard Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator will provide enough power for the rover for 14 years, should the mission be extended.

  • This'll be great. They still gonna launch this, or did it also get cancelled due to budget cuts to fund our important bombing of brown people in mudhuts in random crapholes on the other side of this planet?

  • @MartianStories - Curiosity has been built and shipped to Florida -- the launch window to Mars is between November 25 and December 18. And watch your language on my channel.
