  • @thEannoyingE Yeah, they had the best barber chairs. They were firmer than most and had boxy armrests. Both these guys cut my hair over the years. Tony was the bigger guy, a louder talker, and a bit scary for a little kid. He had the pimp spot by the window, a wiz with the big Oster clippers. He loved to do a crew cut. "Best haircut for a guy," he'd say. The last crew cut he gave me was in the summer of 1987. They worked hard. They had to stand up all day. I think they got good tips, though.

  • I love this footage! I was lucky enough to get my haircut by Tony just prior to the doors shutting. I brought my 6 yr old son in as well that day and he got the best haircut to date. I lived in Swampscott for all my childhood on Blodget ave as did my father and his father, at one time or another we all had our hair cut there ( I had my first haircut there at the age of 1 ) by Tony's father himself. Four generations on our side have come there, and now , no more. Best wishes

    in the future!

  • With a little googling, I answered my own question: Richie & Tony Maniglia.

  • i live here to

  • I'm from Swampscott and I'm pretty sure this is where my father used to get his hair cut. Would have been nice if the last name of these gentleman had been included.

  • yeah it was great, but i loved those old barber chairs.

  • yea those peeps were good to me...Hope the r doing well.

  • I'm sorry to see them go. They were the best barbers around. Sure you spent a couple of hours waiting, but that was half the fun. You could read the Globe, Herald, and Item while waiting. It is the end of an era.
