Has anyone ever noticed the extreme similarity between the faces of Mr Kowalski and Dame Joan Sutherland? ;)

Scholl is good but frankly Kowalski has it all over Scholl. This aria is one of my favorites, whether sung by a counter tenor or treble.

@blumedersahara :[ This is falsetto too. Only voices like mine are modal countertenor(which is essentially a dramatic contralto voice).

wahnsinn!!!echt krass!!!

@blumedersahara I hate to break it to ya, if ya didn't know...Herr Kowalski sings in straight-up falsetto with a heavily Germanic-School technique resulting in a bit of covering and darkening (which is fine). But this is all falsetto.

beautifully done!

Wonderful voice and interpretation! The best alto I've ever heard! Bravo!

Good ear rullstensas! E.g.: last phrase, "O Jesülein" (the "lein") syllable in the penultimate phrase is "just off" only hitting the note for 15 percent of the time, otherwise flat, or riding through it. Very good stage presence, poise, and clear idea of phrasal direction and elocution as well as emphasis. This live recording inaccuracies are more than offset by a sweet, yes bodiless and flutey, tonal production and gift. If you emphasize expression too much, pitch will suffer, maestro!

He is the best! He's an alto! He sings with wonderful technique... not like Scholl! So how can you say: "Jochen Kowalski is kind of a predecessor of Andreas Scholl"
Scholl just sings with falsetto! Its terrible an Kowalski says about falsetto:
„Falsett ist asexuelles Gesäusel
it means something like: falsetto is asexuel wispering/purring
Lovely. Thanks for all three. This one the video editing is a little more relavent, but, I guess a single soloist is easier to follow.
