  • Fan-testical, How is this achieved?

  • The left and right HMBs support the two ends of the rotor and the torque from the motor drives the rotor at its mid-section. Between the two rings of each HMB, there is a permanent magnet ring made of Nd-Fe-B material to deliver the bias magnetic flux for the electromagnet; thereby successfully producing a passive axial control force. Due to the composition of the electromagnets and PMs, this kind of magnetic bearing is known as a hybrid magnetic bearing (HMB).
