The "As Made Famous By" part of this song means that it is a COVER of Van Halen's version. Remember GH2 used covers. Despicable, awful covers.

yeah thats what i was trying to get at and when your not played on the radio when thats was the most popular way of listening to music you lose popularity to th times people i like th k9inks version better for the record if i was striking someone as a diehard van halen fan

Hi, I should think more people of heard of the Kinks after 46 years, I could not name any Van Halen track, but know hundred or more Kinks songs. Maybe the 'made famous' comment refers to the fact that since the mid 80's older artists were barred from being played on mainstream radio stations despite having greater record sales thus creating a generation which generally are unaware of such rock legends.
Maybe you could say made famous to a certain section of that generation.

1964 , most famous by the Kinks, a lot of groups flatter them by doing covers, but I have seen Ray Davies live many times each time they came to town.
