Hands on DC is an all-volunteer project that creates better schools and brighter futures for students in the District of Columbia. Thousands of volunteers have a great time each spring as they join together for a one-day work-a-thon that improves conditions in the public schools and raises money for college scholarships. Since 1995 more than 19,000 volunteers have created a better environment for learning in over 100 schools and have collected more than $400,000 to help local students pay for further education.
"Better Schools, Brighter Futures," the award-winning Hands on DC video, showcases the annual work-a-thon, including some of Hands on DC's most well-known supporters. The video is an honest look at the hard work and sacrifice that goes into making Hands on DC a success, but more importantly it also shows some of the rewards. The looks on the faces of the kids as they come back into school after the work-a-thon - something many volunteers never see - will surely help you understand how important Hands on DC is.
Better families make brighter futures...when is everyone going to realize that it is not the schools, it is the parents that make the difference?!
