The brain is the focus of this fascinating portion of our journey as Dr. Sagan examines another of the intelligent creatures with whom we share the planet Earth — whales.

Then we wind through the maze of the human brain to witness the architecture of thought. We see how genes, brains and books store the information necessary for human survival.

  • I love the motif of the dandelion seed, present here and in various parts of the series. The poetry of 'Cosmos' makes it all the more awesome.

If only my younger cousins could see this whole series! They're such smart kids, and they're being raised by fundamentalist Christians. :( Not that my Aunt and Uncle are bad people for believing what they believe, it's just sad that a certain closed-mindedness gets passed on that way.

  • i cant believe there are such a small amount of views for the cosmos episodes on youtube. everyone in the world should be made to watch these

  • Carl Sagan produced 50 Cosmos' episodes less than he should

  • @ExaltedLeader

But they don't have to eat whales... there's plenty of tasty tasty chicken out there. Also Carl Sagan is not an idiot, I don't see how anyone could think that.

  • @ExaltedLeader

    Eric Cartman speaks!!

  • @ExaltedLeader How about eating something that doesn't ruin entire ecosystems and make a living out of something that will not probably destroy this world in near future?

  • @ExaltedLeader So eat what you usually eat and go to work. Don't thank me for the advice just plant a tree in my name ;)

  • Ah, Carl Sagan. Quite possibly the sexiest man ever.

  • @datalal624 Show them the vids next time you see them. If anyone can plant a seed of logic in the mind of a child it is Sagan.

  • I've just finished watching the episode on the link provided by Soggymoose. Not too bad... but I couldn't make it full screen on my Eee; when I did, the image froze after a while, the sound continued, and I had to close full screen... But in normal mode, you can watch it all uninterrupted.

  • Part 6 has indeed no sound.
