Chanted by Byzantine Master and Professor of Byzantine Music Mr. George Papanikolaos from Samos, Greece.

Cherubic Hymn: 1st tone, composed by Phokaeus, which is chanted in the Divine Liturgy of The Greek Orthodox Church during the Great Entrance...
"Let us who mystically portray the Cherubim, and chant the thrice-holy hymn unto the life-creating Trinity, lay aside all earthly care, that we may receive the King of all, escorted invisibly by the angelic orders. Alleluia."

No instruments are used when chanting byzantine music, only the human voice can be used and nothing else.

  • @butrosabdala

  • @butrosabdala

all these Xeroubika are from the Black Panthekti books...the composers for these Cherubics are in my description of the video. All of them are from Theodore Phokaeus. They are the Argosintoma (meaning) not the short version nor the long versions the semi extended versions. These black books contain all the cherubic hymns plus all the rest I have posted of Papanikolas as well. The only one that is not in those books is the plagal 1st tone Cherubic. That is from his book.

  • Hello vagos2006, I would like to ask you to tell me, if possible, the names of authors of all eight Cherubikons' "ixous" Dr. Papanikolaou chants here. I mean I have a friend in Greece who could offer me the Byzantine notes; I need to just know the exact names of the composers of each Cheroubikon chanted here. Could you provide me such information? He does not use the Web unfortunately!

    thank you,

    P.

  • @nikoinwinnipeg hello, I would like to ask you, whether it were possible for you, to allow me access those notes from Herubikon presented here. I understood you possess them. I am theologian in Germany, and some times my Greek friends ask me to chant in the church. I have a little bit from experience, just lack the notes! thank you,

  • Majestic praise--truly a gift of voice, Kyrie Papanikolaos--a voice that becomes a sweet offering to the Most High God.

[trans. Eng:]--"We who in mystery represent the Cherubim, as we sing the thrice-holy hymn to the Life-giving Trinity, let us set aside all cares of the world, that we may receive the King of all."

  • Thanks again for that
