These things are far safer than fixed wing aircraft.

Actually they autorotate better than a helicopter does. "Coast" was probably not the best discriptive term but, if you follow my previous suggestion, you'll see that helicopters don't always autorotate as well as people believe.

If these "things" lose an engine they autorotate to the ground, the same way a helicopter does.

If these things loose power they just coast to the ground. If you want to know what a helicopter does when it looses power search youtube. it aint pretty.
