I've never seen this movie before, orh have anyone really close to me die before, but i ony watched this twice, and i cried a little bit both times. Usual reactions to see the eldest try to act composed to shield his anguish, hoping that his sadness will dissapear so he doesn't have to deal with it, while the youngest only feel intense sadness losing his "mommy". any young child would feel the way he would. with him showing his feelings only makes it more intense for the viewer I have to watch.

She wanted with her last breath of life to take away any future guilts they may feel... It is just so altruistic... And she did not even manage to make her older son shed a single tear... He really lost the chance to break down...and feel like a human. Anyway... absolutely sad.

Watched this the other night on TV. I have seen this film numerous times, and have to say this is most gut wrenching scene in the film. When she says to him - "I know that you love me" - I just lost it completely. Great film and Shirley Maclaine is wonderful in it too.
