PLEASE WATCH IN 480P BY CLICKING ABOVE 360P.NOW YOU CAN WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY..We must honor the elderly! We must treat the elderly with dignity, love and respect. How we treat the elderly is a reflection of who we are. We should treat them the way we would want to be treated when we grow old and feeble. Many elderly Christians are full of wisdom and we can learn valuable lessons from them. There are other elderly people we know who are still without Christ and we still need to share the Gospel with them. In the church we are a family, and the older members should be treated like mothers and fathers. We should not neglect or ignore them. There are no generation gaps in the Body of Christ. Every member is equally important. This includes the elderly.

Scriptures

1. Lev. 19:32 "You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man and fear your God.

2. James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion before God is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble."

3. Psalm 71:18 "Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare Your power to the next generation."

4. Proverbs 20:29 "The glory of young men is their strength and the splendor of old men is their gray head.

5. Proverbs 23:20 "Listen to your Father who begot you and do not despise your mother when she is old."

6. 1 Tim. 5:1-2 "Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters with all purity."

Testimony from Brother David

*My first ministry was in an old run down nursing home in 1976. I was a new Christian and the Lord impressed upon my heart to regularly visit the old folks who lived in this home and share the love of God with them. I went by myself and it was a wonderful experience.

*In Barbados as a pastor we had an organized ministry to the elderly in nursing homes. Each floor had rows of beds of old Barbadians. We would go sing, testify, fellowship with, and read to these very lonely needy people. On Sunday morning we'd bring a van load to church. Let me tell you - they loved to sing and praise God and listen to the preaching of the Word. They brought great joy to our congregation.

*In Guyana, we've had special ministry to the elderly who live in the jungles and who are very, very, poor and are in need of ministry.

*Here is the USA, as a family we have "adopted" old Brother Henry, who lives in a nursing home. Henry has no family, so we are him family. He is in a wheel chair and has diabeties. Part of his leg has been amputated. When he comes to church he sits up front in his wheel chair, and as a family we sit right behind him. Henry really loves the Lord. From time to time, we take him special meals and he gets all excited. You should see the smile on this mans face! We took him out to dinner one time and he must have said "thank you" a hundred times. He brings joy to our hearts.

At our church, we have a service every other week at two different nursing homes. They are well attended by the old folks who love to sing the hymns and hear the Word of God.

I PRAY THAT THIS VIDEO HAS BLESSED YOU AND TOUCHED YOUR HEART. IF YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE ABOUT AN ELDERLY PERSON, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT UNDER THE VIDEO. OTHERS WILL READ IT AND BE BLESSED.

God Bless,

Brother David

  • I saw this when I was a ward secretary in the hospital. I used to take the elderly to the solarium and have great conversations with them. They were so hungry for someone to talk too. Then I would try to sneak and feed them, because no one would have the patiance to do that. I actually would get yelled at by my supervisor for being too friendly to them. How sad is that!!! Is this how we want to be treated when we get older?

  • Thank you for making the investment. This is a great place to sew our seed because if we are blessed to reach those years then we certainly hope that someone will respect and love us too.

    God bless you

  • Yes i love the Elderly, always did enjoy my great grandmothers company and laughter.

  • we won't always be young.someday when we turn 80 and unable to stand on our feet we'll wish we had somebody to care and treat us right.do not put your parents in nursing homes.don;t forget what they did for you.that;s when they need you the most.don't forget them.

  • This is so beautiful and profound in its meaning. It reaches deep. I have this video message saved to my favorites. I just like to come back to say hi and be with good people. God bless David!!! Your brother in Christ and Friend, Randy

  • United States owes the Seniors an easier life at their final years .... Medicare should cover 100% of Medical, Dental, Vision, & Prescriptions ! These Senior Americans fought for America, worked their lives for America... so give them dignity in their final years. Politicians of today do NOT care for people that built this country to the greatness it 'was'.

  • @ Lachance8: You did the right thing. The elderly needs human interaction and it’s good to know that there is still a person like you who has a heart that is willing to listen to their stories. It’s really a sad thing that several of the elderly are looking for other people to listen to them because their children had failed to remember them already even if they can possibly keep in touch with their elderly through the use of today’s technology.

  • If ended with my father. But i respect life generally. Specially old people today. because in my country they treat them like shit.

Everyweher U find crank people. Thats part of life.

  • Yes they are all youth focused in these churches and its to the detriment of the elderly and it isnt right thanks for video.

  • awswome miss barb

  • This just reached out and grabbed my heart! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!
