This is a really cool engineering activity where the challenge is to sort shells, kidney and lentil beans. Evaluate based upon the time to process a given volume and standard deviation (improperly sorted material). Age level: Middle School to University. Development is continuous improvement and relies heavily on the engineering & design process. It teaches material processing, engineering design and development, biotechnology, statistics. It's an amazing Technology Education, STEM, PLTW Principles of Engineering or IED activity. Allows students to become innovators. Incorporate wood, metal or found/recycled materials.
I love the triple sloping design...I'm gonna steal it for my own project >:)
