In another video, they tell you to KEEP MOVING! How are supposed to move around with your shoelaces tangled up in your shelter? I guess if you have an extra set of shoelaces, you can do it, but taking your shoelaces off your shoes is a bad idea, especially in the snow.

i am a survivalist and I would not recommend using shoelaces, especially in cold weather. You need to keep your feet warm which means keeping your shoes tied. Also, you need to be ready to run and go places which means proper footwear. Finally, if you have to mess around with shoelaces, you are going to have to take your gloves off which means your hands are going to get cold and it will be difficult putting your shoelaces back on your shoes with frozen hands.
