it looks like a falcon flew in the living room thru the door and broke the glass pane in the process.

Looks like a ruffed grouse, not a bird of prey.

This is 100% grouse & not a bird of prey, perhaps a North American Ruffed Grouse. I can understand if you were kids, but then again, even a kid would know thats not a bird of prey, it has no hooked beak nor sharp, hooked talens.
