Living In The OC Part 1

1 John 1

These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
1 John 1:4 (NASB)

Choosing To Make A Difference

I. In My Character

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:29 (NIV)

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts. 1 John 1:8-10 (NLT)

What does God use to help me grow spiritually?

 God will use the Bible to guide me. (2 Tim. 3:16&17)
 God will use the Holy Spirit to strengthen me. (Rom. 8:9-11)
 God will use Community to encourage me. (Acts 2:42-47)
 God will use the Circumstances to stretch me. (Rom. 8:28-29)

My dear friendscontinue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:12-13 (NIV)

II. In My Church

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7 (NLT)

God wants me

 To protect the unity of my church. (Rom. 15:19)

 To share the responsibility of my church. (1 Thess. 1:2)

 To serve the ministry of my church. (1 Pet. 4:10)

 To support the testimony of my church. (Heb. 10:25)

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)

III. In My City

 What has God done in my life?

We proclaim to you the One who existed from the beginning, Whom we have heard and seen. We saw Him with our own eyes and touched Him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. 1 John 1:1 (NLT)

 How can God use me to engage our city?

This One who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen Him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then He was revealed to us. 1 John 1:2 (NLT)

 What is Gods ultimate desire for those around me?

We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy. 1 John 1:3-4 (NLT)
