On Monday, September 21, the exuberant voices of the students of Montessori Community School (MCS) helped bring "Sing Peace Around the World" to a peaceful conclusion.
This historic and unprecedented world-wide event involved Montessori schools from over 30 countries around the globe as they came together to celebrate peace.
The song "Light a Candle for Peace," written by Sing Peace creator Shelley Murley, was first sung by Montessori students in New Zealand. The song was then continuously sung for 24 hours by children from one time zone to the next, until it finally reached our Hawaiian islands at 10:50 a.m.
Beginning at 10:50 a.m., MCS students gathered together and, in four groups, began singing the song for its final time on its journey around the world. Students in all of MCS' programs, from the youngest in the two-year-old program to the elementary sixth graders, have been learning and practicing the song.
Thank you for recording and sharing, this way we parents who could not come, can still enjoy the moment and celebrate it! and we can keeping spreading the wish for peace!
