I built these robot racers for running short workshops with kids - the robots have distance sensors and a set of controls that you can adjust to change the robots behaviour, by tweaking the controls and the positions of the sensors you can get the robot to race around the track as fast as possible. These robots are set to about half speed, any faster and they just spin out of control. They use four range finders for distance sensing and have front and rear bumpers for tactile contact.
