  • The little doeling is cute, how old is she? Do you plan on breeding her with the kiko or do you have any other bucks available. How big will this type of goat get, and how much meat do you get from these types of goats. Sorry for so many questions. I have some goats and it is more dairy than anything. I would find it hard to butcher them at this time. I have had goat and lamb so it's just a matter of keeping the herd for dairy for me. Is he in a winter coat ?

    Love the snow. J

  • @hotmamajil No problem with the questions, happy to answer. We have no plans on breeding the doe, she is almost 2 and still not very large. Not comfortable with her size and breeding her to our large buck, he is way to big. Really thought she would get a little bigger by now. She will just be a pet. Undertstand the issue with butchering the dairy for meat. We don't do that either besides that on dairy stock their is not enough meat on certain stock to account for the guilt.

  • @hotmamajil Sorry I had to answer this in 2 parts not enough characters allowed :) The dairy end is hard sense are as or more personable than dogs. We raise kikos for that purpose but even then it's still hard. We also don't raise goats like we use too. The meat isn't as good as venison (our families favorite). Yes our kiko is a winter goat. But all our goats have housing from the weather. Blessings The Winans

  • That is one big buck goat - think they can get quite aggressive. Can you put up a video about goat maintenance e.g. how you house them, what you feed them on, medication requirements etc. We are interested in having some...

  • @ivankinsman Hi! Sorry I'm just now getting back to your comment! Thank you for taking time to watch our channel. Yes, we would love to do a video on feeding and tending to goats. Will try to get one done soon! An excellent book to read is "Raising Goats the Modern Way" by JD Bellanger. Lots of good info! You are right, bucks can become very aggressive. For the most part this buck in the vid is pretty good but there are times he starts to feel his oats. Blessings< The Winans

  • So how do ya'll cook your goats? I've only had it off the pit down here in the south, was curious about the differnt techniques along with thier results.

  • @jevaneez Goat meat is like venison: it can be very dry depending on the age of the goat. Like venison some cuts are fine for grilling but we like to slow cook most of our meat for stews, burritos etc. Roasting is also a choice way to cook it so the way you had it was probably very good. Also frying it like venison chops or rabbit is good too. Thanks for watching our channel and also for taking time to leave a comment.
