This song is from the Broadway play, "Kismet." Johnny Mathis, as usual, makes it his own. I had it from the original LP, "Heavenly."

It can be purchased online, by getting the CD, "Johnny Mathis: Thirty-Six All-Time Greatest Hits."

Composers: Robert Wright and George Forrest. It is also said that the melody was based on music composed by Alexander Borodin from "The Gliding Dance of the Maidens." I read that information, researching online and checked it out further, after a comment was left on this video. You can find the original composition in my favorites, if you'd like to hear it.

  • Thank you READ ME..READ YOU,for giving us this heavenly present. I'm bedbound due to spinal surgery, but was lucky enough to see JM in concert many times. Everything he sings is golden and in person I think he hypnotizes the whole audience." Class all the way". Thanks again.

  • It's a nice rendition, but not the equal of Tony Bennett's 1955 chart-topper.

  • Voice never bettered, Moon River have never heard a better version.

  • Johnny + strings = goosebumps every time. Never get tired of listening to this.

  • What a very beautiful voice Johnny Mathis has. I've been listening to him for about fifty-odd years ... and his recordings still make the hair on the back of my head stand up. Johnny ... you are wonderful! Wonderful!
