  • is this location easy to get to ?

  • Yea, somewhat. I don't know the exact street right off, but it isn't too hard.

Write back again and I'll see if I can find it.

  • So where exactly in Barobursville is this at? I know theres a triple track stretch coming between exit 15 and 18 that goes down to double track at some point, but I don't know where.

  • This is in Barboursville itself. You had to take Rt. 60 past Merritts Creek Connector (route to Rt. 2 on the Ohio River) and go to little tunnel that goes under the RR tracks this will put you on Main Street which takes you into Bville.

Just off Main Street (3/4's of a mile) you come to Depot Street on the right and take it to the crossing and you will be at the west-leg of the Y of the Kanawha and Logan Subs.

This is where I was standing in 1992.

  • I'll have to remember to check that out next time we're out there. Nice catch on the Chessie unit by the way!

  • Yea, the Chessie units were more numerous in those days, but they were dwindling.

I've got some other videos on here that have Chessie units in them.

  • Thats the power of EMDs! An SD40-2 and a GP40-2 pulling a hefty loaded coal train at speed. Nice vid!

  • Hmm, I'll have to check them out sometime. Got any tips or vids on spotting in Huntington, either CSX or NS or that one line that runs down past the riverfront? I'd like to catch something there sometime.

  • I like the Clinchfield coal car. I saw one a few months in Charleston that was owned by a leasing company.
