SUPPORTING COPY: Holiday skiers and snowboarders were treated to spectacular conditions at Squaw Valley USA Friday, following a six-day series of snowstorms that left nearly six feet of new snow.
Snowfall ended late Thursday, and Friday morning revealed blue skies and a mountain blanketed in fresh snow. Resort staff opened many lifts that had been closed due to the heavy snow and high winds during the previous few days, and skiers and snowboarders rushed to make fresh tracks in the untouched snow.
Squaw Valley's holiday festivities - "Squawlidays" - continue through the remainder of December. New Year's Eve events include the Coast to Coast, Silver and Gold New Year's Eve party at High Camp, Squaw Valley's upper mountain complex at the top of the Cable Car.
