@lookscudkill If she couldn't skate then she shoulda withdrawn. Her performance was heartbreaking to watch and it cost Canada a spot at the 1998 Olympics. I'm not saying Angela Derochie would have had a stellar competition, but I think at the very least she would have qualified for the LP and that would have been enough.
I'm amazed at how the opening 45 seconds seems to be the exact same program and music that Yamaguchi did in 1990. And they had the same coach. That opening is literally plaigerized!
Yes, Humphreys won second place and solidly deserved the second ladies spot on the Olympic team. She won fair and square at the 1997 Canadian Nationals as well, but it's sad how her career had ended and how with her great natural talent, had only won one Canadian national title. She was hurt at the 1997 World's, but if she were to withdraw, then it would have been silver medallist Angela Derochie who would have been the alternate. Robinson was surpassed that year.
Stefrevollo. Susan was very injured at the 1997 Worlds; really, she should have withdrawn and let Jen Robinson skate instead as the alternate. SC tried everything including having Elvis speak to her about skating through the pain but by the look of it, it was bad. She failed to get a spot for Canada at the Nagano Olympics by not coming in top 6 at a qualifier. It's too bad it is the ay her career ended. I really enjoyed her skating.
She really had the skate of her life and was never able again to land six triples. She didn't even qualify for the 1997 worlds after the SP... She was talented for sure but this one-shot success cost Karen Preston a OG and worlds ticket as well as her amateur carreer...
why she left is a very interesting story, but I'm happy to say she is now a happy mother of three beautiful children, and since she is married to a hockey player they can probably already skate.

In 1994, Susan deserved the spot, no doubt.

Do you have Josee's performance from this championship? I'd love to see it!

Beautiful lines, beautiful posture, and beautiful "springy" moves. How did she end up disappearing completely after her "debut" season???
