@mwgroves1961 As a yankee from the North, I have been watching these films of the South. I and I used to travel down South It was a worthless war on both sides, and families against each other. All I can say that may they rest in peace. So much blood had be spilled and prisoners for what. These men were the bravest that gave
their lives for a war. The South is rich in culture and history may any one watch these films remember what they
died for.

@40AcreMule ...Yes your right about the UDC (United Daughter of THe Confederacy) I wrote the wrong initials. Instead it should have been UDC, and it is now run by the Franklin Trust, but it hasn't always been that way. For a long time after that battle 'Carnton', the place was let go and almost in ruin , when the UDC pitched in and help out. I have a book shelf full of books on this place and the battle, with a History of the family who built it ... The McGavock family.

@SoBelleofTN The McGavock cemetery is not "the only privately owned Confederate cemetery". It is the LARGEST privately-owned Confederate cemetery. It is not run by the DCV (Daughers of the Confederate Veterans). There is no such organization by that name. There is a group called the UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy), but they do not run Carnton plantation or the cemetery. The house and burial ground is owned and operated by the Battle of Franklin Trust.

@southernman517 Amen and amen. Our country will one day be free and our ancestor's faith vindicated. God save the South.

They faced death for their homes and their liberty and chose to give all that they had. All we face are insults and contempt, but many choose to abandon the field rather than stay and fight on. They died as men and those for whom they died honored them. Who will honor us if we choose to be "loved" rather than fight on? Our enemies won't love us if we surrender and even if they would, is their "good opinion" worth denying and abandoning these heroes? I think not.

May these brave men rest in Peace.....Amen

This place in middle Tennessee is so full of history! Go, tour the McGavock home "Carnton Plantation" see the only privately owned Confederate Cemetery, where Carrie McGavock removed the bodies of the dead Confederate soldiers to her home and private cemetery. This place is run by the DCV ( Daughters of Confederate Veterans) and walk the hallowed grounds, listen to the stories, of the 2,000 men who died in battle in 5 short hours on that day Nov. 30, 1864. Take the tour , hear it all !
